Singing River’s Ocean Springs Hospital recently reached the milestone of treating its 100th monarch patient case using advanced robotic technology.

The robotic bronchoscopy technology is used to see the inside of the lungs and get tissue samples for biopsy.

The goal of using the monarch platform is to get a more accurate diagnosis earlier of small and hard-to-reach nodules in the lung.

The technology uses the latest advancements in robotics, software, and data science by using small cameras and tools to enter the body through its natural openings. Dr. Sardar Babar said, “What the robotics technology represents is what Singing River Health System brings to the community. We have groundbreaking technology which in some cases and in some procedures not even large institutions such as the university hospital are offering.”

The Ocean Springs Hospital partnered with the Ocean Springs School District’s robotic team to name the robot, which was reveled at today’s celebration. The students chose ‘Bronchiosaurus.”
